Ingredients

Apple Filling

  • 5 cups apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup granulated sugar

Crumble Topping

  • cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • cup old-fashioned oats
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

Prepare Apple Filling

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a deep pie dish or baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  • In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with vanilla extract, cinnamon, and granulated sugar until evenly coated. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.

Prepare and Bake Topping

  • In a separate bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, oats, salt, and cinnamon. Pour in the melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the apples.
  • Bake uncovered for 45–60 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.

Serving

  • Allow the apple crisp to cool slightly before serving. Optionally serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for balanced flavor.
  • Oats in the topping give the classic chewy-crunchy texture.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven to restore crispiness.
