Description

This low-calorie crispy chilli beef is a healthy homemade alternative to classic takeaway. Strips of tender beef are air-fried until perfectly crispy and tossed with colourful vegetables in a sweet and spicy sticky sauce. It is quick to make and packed with delicious flavours for a guilt-free weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 255 g beef rump steak thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp white flour
  • 1 bell pepper sliced
  • 1 carrot finely sliced
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 3 spring onions sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 inch fresh ginger finely sliced
  • chilli flakes to taste
  • 4 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp white rice vinegar
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 tsp sweetener
  • 1 dash Frank's RedHot Sauce a few drops
  • 1 beef stock cube dissolved in 100ml water
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Thinly slice the beef, season with salt and pepper, and toss to coat in the flour.
  • Cook the coated beef in the air fryer for 15 to 20 minutes until crispy.
  • Chop all the vegetables, ginger, and garlic, then add to a frying pan and sauté for 10 minutes.
  • Mix together the beef stock, hot sauce, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sweetener to form the sauce.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the frying pan once the vegetables begin to soften.
  • Add the crispy beef to the pan and toss until the sauce thickens, coats the beef, and becomes sticky.
  • Serve immediately alongside warm rice.

Notes

  • Adjust hot sauce and chilli flakes according to your heat preference.
