For the Doughnuts
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1 tablespoon rose water
- ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon flax seed meal mixed with 5 tsp of almond milk
- 2 tablespoons almond or soy yogurt
For the Glaze
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons soy milk
- 1 teaspoon rose water
- ⅓ teaspoon cardamom powder
Garnish
- Edible dry rose petals for garnish
- desiccated coconut for garnish
Preheat oven to 350ºF and lightly coat the doughnut pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cardamom, and salt.
In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, coconut oil, rose water, flax mixture, and plant yogurt until smooth.
Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and keep mixing until combined.
Transfer the batter into a zippered plastic bag or piping bag to make it easier to pour. Snip the end and pipe the batter into the pan, filling each 2/3 of the way full.
Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 2 to 3 minutes and then transfer to wire racks to cool.
In a bowl, whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth.
Dip cooled doughnuts into the glaze and then garnish with dried rose petals and desiccated coconut. Enjoy!
- Make sure to cool the doughnuts completely before glazing for best results.
- You can use different plant-based yogurt like soy or coconut yogurt as a substitute.
- Adjust the amount of rose water to your preference for a more subtle or stronger floral taste.
