Ingredients

For the Doughnuts

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 tablespoon rose water
  • ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon flax seed meal mixed with 5 tsp of almond milk
  • 2 tablespoons almond or soy yogurt

For the Glaze

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy milk
  • 1 teaspoon rose water
  • teaspoon cardamom powder

Garnish

  • Edible dry rose petals for garnish
  • desiccated coconut for garnish

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF and lightly coat the doughnut pan with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cardamom, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together sugar, coconut oil, rose water, flax mixture, and plant yogurt until smooth.
  • Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and keep mixing until combined.
  • Transfer the batter into a zippered plastic bag or piping bag to make it easier to pour. Snip the end and pipe the batter into the pan, filling each 2/3 of the way full.
  • Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Cool in the pan for 2 to 3 minutes and then transfer to wire racks to cool.
  • In a bowl, whisk together glaze ingredients until smooth.
  • Dip cooled doughnuts into the glaze and then garnish with dried rose petals and desiccated coconut. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Make sure to cool the doughnuts completely before glazing for best results.
  • You can use different plant-based yogurt like soy or coconut yogurt as a substitute.
  • Adjust the amount of rose water to your preference for a more subtle or stronger floral taste.
